The Akka: A Vessel with a Legacy
What Makes the Akka Special?
The Akka has a story long before her days as a private yacht in Aruba.
She is a 68-foot high-performance Spronk sailing catamaran, launched in 1992 and designed for serious long-distance sailing. Over the years, she has sailed through the Caribbean and completed multiple Atlantic crossings.
Owned by the Westera family, founders of Aruba Watersports Center, The Akka carries a deep family connection to the ocean and a long tradition of exploration.
That passion was passed down through generations, beginning with the vision behind Aruba Watersports Center and continuing through the many adventures the family has shared aboard The Akka. The vessel has crossed the Atlantic multiple times, including a major family journey in 2024 from Aruba to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands.
Today, after a life built around ocean travel and adventure, The Akka has a new role:
creating private, personal and memorable sailing experiences here in Aruba.
